Policies and Procedures

Behavior Policies

The Library Media Center is an inclusive space through which students develop the skills needed to utilize information effectively and is an essential part of teaching and learning.  Flexible access allows students to research, do presentations, tutor, study, and read.

General Guidelines

  • All students entering the library during class time must have a pass scheduled in Smart Pass.

  • Students are required to sign in at the kiosk upon entering the Library Media Center and put their cell phone in the caddy. Students include their caddy number upon sign in.

  • Students are to exhibit proper conduct and behavior while working in the Library Media Center.  Unacceptable behavior and noncompliance with rules stated in the Student Handbook may result in removal from the Library Media Center and/or a written disciplinary referral submitted to administration.

  • Eating in the Library Media Center is prohibited.

Behavior Guidelines

The Delran High School Library is an inclusive academic space.  While in the Library Media Center, students are expected to manage their time effectively (researching, working, looking for a book, or reading) and to exhibit behavior aligned in their Student Handbook.

Students who behave inappropriately may be asked to leave the Library Media Center.  Using the Library Media Center is a privilege, and disruptive behaviors may result in administrative action and suspension of library privileges.

Examples of behaviors that may result in a restriction of library privileges include (full list in your Student Handbook):

  • Using profane, obscene and/or inappropriate language, writing, drawing, or gestures.

  • Uncooperative, disrespectful, argumentative, or insubordinate behaviors.

  • Videotaping, photographing, audiotaping, or recording of any kind.

  • Throwing food or other objects.

The Library Media Center operates around rules of respect: respect for students and staff, respect for the furnishings and materials, and respect for the school community.

All guidelines are further outlined and discussed in your Student Handbook.

Circulation Policies

Students may have five (5) books checked out on their library account at a time, not including eBooks and digital audiobooks.

Books circulate for fifteen (15) days at a time, and may be renewed in fifteen (15) day intervals. Please be considerate of other readers and return/renew your books on time!

If a book is damaged, please see a Library staff member instead of trying to fix it yourself. If a book is lost, please see Library staff for replacement information.
